App ratings

Rate each installed app as educational (+) or entertainment (–). Credits grow with learning and shrink with play.

You decide which apps are educational (+) and which are entertainment (–). The credit engine uses your ratings — not a generic category list — so rules match your family values.

Credit wallet

A live balance shows how much screen time your child has earned. Learning apps add credits; entertainment uses them.

Quest Board

Set chores and tasks that pay out credits when completed. Kids learn that screen time is earned, not unlimited.

Create recurring or one-time chores with custom credit payouts. Kids mark tasks complete; you approve before credits are added.

Kids Play Zone

A color-coded zone shows kids their balance at a glance — green means go, red means time to earn more.

Auto-lock at zero

When credits hit zero, entertainment apps lock automatically until more are earned through learning or chores.

Entertainment apps are blocked when the wallet hits zero. Learning apps always remain available to help kids earn their way back.

Parent PIN

Every setting is protected by a parent PIN stored only on your device. Kids can't change the rules.

Permissions explained

Screentime Nanny requests Android permissions only to function locally. None send data off your device.

Usage Access — reads which apps are open and for how long, solely to compute credits.

Display over other apps — shows the Kids Play Zone overlay and lock screens.

Device Admin (optional) — helps prevent unauthorized uninstall by children.
